7 EUROPEAN FACTORIES THAT WON’T GO UNNOTICED AT FUORISALONE 2024
This 2024, the Fuorisalone returns to Milan, one of the largest events around the world where renowned firms, designers, decorators, architects, graphic or conceptual artists actively share the latest trends, approaches and components to educate more than 400,000 experts and enthusiasts on improving the collective lifestyle with an eye to the future.
The purpose of this year’s design week focuses on the united efforts of small and large firms around the world to promote environmental care at a much more optimal and expansive level.
Under the conceptualization of “Materia Natura”, this series of exhibitions will explore in depth the idea of sustainability, promoting a culture of conscious design that is renewed in every corner. While reflection on nature has been a constant dialogue in recent decades, the Fuorisalone has given life to an evolving project that rescues those thoughts, with even bolder and more functional proposals to shorten the time of action and genuinely guarantee a change.
Materia Natura
Since its inception, Glamora has been a defining brand in the renewal of traditionalist figures or epic stories, making the home a true museum of the expression and interest that the old world had to offer. This 2024, its vision remains, but its conception reached a new level.
Bringing to life Arcadia, a collection that pays homage to ancient Rome under a unique and harmonious visual narrative. Making use of significant details such as lesenes and capitals, each scene recalls the sinopia of the fresco murals of the past, giving life to a contemporary neoclassicism.
In short, the beautiful juxtaposition between the real presences of the past and the contemporary references that Glamora delivers in its designs, offer unprecedented figurative solutions, capable of giving shape to poetically conceived spaces.
Résonance by Mutina X Ronan Bouroullec
Casa Mutina Milano & Spazio Cernaia.
Mutina has positioned itself as one of the most creative manufacturers of surfaces and decorative elements for the home, largely due to its vision and fruitful collaborations with established and emerging designers who are reinventing the industry.
For this edition of the Fuorisalone, the wall and floor covering house has given space to Ronan Bouroullec, the French revelation who since the 1970s has introduced new fields of expression and interpretation to everyday life, mainly channeled through unconventional and very captivating craftsmanship.
This exhibition manifests a series of reticular installations reminiscent of traditional weavings and the superposition of elements. Likewise, all the works prioritize anodized aluminum as a base resource to give endless forms.
The whole tour starts from a dialogue between indoor and outdoor environments that adjoin and interact with each other to demonstrate the connectivity between what we live and what we feel as humans in such a changing environment, which is now in danger.
Fornasetti: This is not a canteen
Ceci n’est pas une salle à manger – Fornasetti
In keeping with its classic currents, Fornasetti arrives at Milan design week to arouse curiosity and evoke emotion with a unique campaign: Ceci n’est pas une salle à manger (It’s not a dining room).
With this atelier, the brand attributes a surreal interpretation of what for many of us is one of the most welcoming spaces in the house: the dining room. So, in this scenario, where nothing is what it seems, opulent decorations, disruptive colors and classic shapes resembling theatrical style emerge.
In synthesis, what we will see in Fornasetti’s exhibitions will be essential components of a dining room, which dialogue by themselves to create multifaceted spaces; loaded with stories and contemporary styles that emerge from the imagination.
Baleri 40: A project that celebrates 40 years of historic collaborations.
Baleri 40 – Baleri Italia
For the creatives at Baleri Italia, it is no coincidence that the celebration of their 40 years of successful collaboration with Philippe Starck, one of the pioneers within their company for the creation and innovation of iconic products, was intertwined with the arrival of Fuorisalone 2024.
Thus, together with the refreshing ingenuity of Franco Raggi architect and creator of high quality design pieces, all of Milan marvels with an exhibition project and completely conceptual where this artist reissues some of the components signed by Stark for the brand.
Through anthropomorphic silhouettes that seem to float and coincide in a discourse of serenity, the proposal not only reiterates the value that each of its products offers in terms of quality, but also its versatility and easy adaptation to future times that perceive them as eternal and memorable.
For all involved, Baleri 40 is a true testament to how the brand’s approach continues to hold true over time; accommodating the evolution of customs and thinking in a contemporary world, with real problems and room for imagination.
Fractured Idols – Daniel Arsham X Bisazza
Fractured Idols I Mosaic – Fractured Idols VI Mosaic
This year, Europe’s largest mosaic firm, Bisazza, returns with a high-impact collection in its signature base materials. For its display at the Flagship store, the company will share for the first time a complete presentation of the American artist Daniel Arsham; in addition to the iconic pieces Marmo and Marmosaico, the result of the ingenuity of the English designer Ashley Hicks and the architecture studio Autoban.
In the case of Fractured Idols: These limited edition works, made through digitalization and printing techniques on the raw material, merge the surreal beauty of the most recognized and less appreciated sculptures, with much more current and representative versions of animation.
In short, we will see in each Arsham’s proposal an ambivalence between classic sculptural faces that intertwine with manga characters; whose connotation, in both cases, are based on the journey of figurativism in time.
Pedrali: Colores de Ligereza
Although they have skimped on details since their announcement in this new edition of the Milan design week, Pedrali has made one thing clear and that is their belief in the power of colors as a generator of emotions in all existing spaces.
In this way, his conceptual exhibition “Colors of Lightness” suggests a testimony on the harmony of shapes, the contrast and balance between shades; but above all the restorative effect that each of these attributes has separately, and especially, as a whole.
We are all, undoubtedly, waiting for a fresh and restorative proposal that can be applied with immediacy and transform, with the passage of time, our perception of the concept of “Tranquility”.
K-Garden: Ernestomeda’s ode to sustainability.
Absolutely, everyone, remembers the iconic K-Lab design that this ingenious firm brought to balance the functionalities within the kitchen space, with slightly more minimalist shapes and impeccable ergonomics. However, the Ernestomeda team kept an open question: what about the outdoor areas?
This season, the Fuorsialone concept has allowed them to give free rein to their imagination to begin to answer all those existentialisms about how to connect both premises, without losing their essence.
K-Garden 2024
Conceived to redesign new outdoor living spaces, the K-Garden collection consists of a series of independent open elements that can be combined together to form real equipped islands. This proposal is part of the evolution of the K-Lab project, a kitchen with a refined design and technical soul, capable of satisfying all functional needs without renouncing the unmistakable domestic warmth typical of Ernestomeda.
